Deer hunting approved in Branson city limits

— Deer hunting will be allowed inside Branson city limits.

The Branson Board of Aldermen voted Tuesday to approve bow hunting of deer inside the city, with several stipulations.

The amendment to city code requires bow hunters to have the required state licensing and safety training. They can hunt on land of at least 2 acres, at least 150 yards from a structure or property line, and only from a tree stand.

KY3-TV reported that the board also required hunters to notify owners of property adjacent to land where they intend to hunt.

City leaders said the hunts are necessary because the increasing deer population is causing more traffic accidents and damage to landscaping.
