— One man was stabbed to death and a suspect was injured during an early-morning break-in at an apartment at a home at 1804 Brazil Ave. in Fort Smith.

The occupants told officers that the suspect broke in and attacked one of the residents with a sharp object, said Cpl. Patricia Sullivan, a spokesman for the Fort Smith Police Department.

The other occupants held him until police arrived. The burglary occurred about 4 a.m.

John Jackson, 24, died later from stab wounds at Sparks Health System. The suspect, Eric Boyd, 23, was also taken in for injuries, Sullivan said.
