— Restaurateur Scott McGehee says Local Lime, his latest project with partner John Beachboard and Big Orange partner Herren Hickingbotham, is on target for a mid- to late-November opening in the Promenade at Chenal, 17809 Chenal Parkway. McGehee says he’s got his management team pretty much in place — “We’ve got 10 key people right now,” including Ben Brainard, who worked with Beachboard and McGehee at Boulevard Bread Co. and ZaZa, in charge of the kitchen, and Lee Edwards, formerly of the Capital Hotel, as bar manager.

Now he’s advertising for the other five-dozen folks he needs to operate the place, via his Facebook page: “It’s about that time again. Looking for 60 amazing employees for Local Lime (our new gourmet taco and fresh squeezed margarita concept). This will be one of the most exceptional places to work in Little Rock by far. Back of house, front of house, managers, bartenders, etc. ... We are looking for long term, available, hard-working, intelligent, positive and fun people.”

Meanwhile, although we’ve gotten a more or less definitive word on a second, Midtown location for high-end burger emporium Big Orange, McGehee continues to demur on confirming it until he’s signed a lease.

And speaking of burgers, the target opening date for Home Fresh Burgers, 608 Main St., Little Rock, is late October or early November. (The gourmet burger joint could be a boon for downtowners who love the burgers at the Sports Page but don’t like the cigarette smoke, or for whom The Box is too far away to conveniently visit.) We have a phone number — (501) 374-3839 — but got no return on our call by deadline.

Shooters Sports Bar and Grill, 9500 Interstate 30, Little Rock, has closed. That’s the voicemail message we got by calling the not-yet-disconnected phone number, (501) 565-4003; we found further proof at the website, shooterslittlerock.com: “For SALE or LEASE Colliers Realtors.”

The Draft: Ultimate Sports Grill, 2235 Dave Ward Drive, Conway, had its grand opening last week. The hours are 11 a.m.-2 a.m. daily, and the place has a private club license so it can serve alcoholic beverages in dry Faulkner County. Though an employee described the menu as basic bar food, the establishment’s Facebook page lists a culinary team that includes executive chef James Katke and executive sous-chef Wil Wright. The phone number is (501) 358-3454; there’s a website, thedraftconway.com, which is still under construction (all it says is “coming soon”).

Barbara Armstrong, who owns Scott Heritage Farm near Scott, will host the Oct. 16 return of Outstanding in the Field, the traveling farm-to-table caravan (the mission: “To reconnect diners to the land and the origins of their food and introduce them to the local farmers and food artisans whose good work brings nourishment to the table”). Capital Hotel chef Jeffrey Ferrell will prepare a four-course meal, the ingredients for which will come from Armstrong’s and neighboring farms, and which he will serve on a long, white-linen-covered table right there in the field. The event starts at 2 p.m. with a glass of wine and welcome hors d’oeuvres, followed by a tour of the farm and the meal, each course paired with the appropriate wine. Tickets are $180 per person, all inclusive. For more information and to reserve a seat, visit outstandinginthefield.com.

Freshfully.com, a Birmingham, Ala.-based website that sells locally grown food, is now available in Little Rock. “The site operates like an eBay or Etsy for local farmers,” Freshfully co-founder Sam Brasseale explains. “We pass customer orders through to local farmers, and pay them 86 percent of the retail price.” (Traditionally, according to a news release, farmers receive only 16 cents of each dollar spent on food.) Little Rock blogger Lacey Thacker, a graduate student in professional and technical writing, will write for the site, profile area farms and share ideas for using fresh, seasonal produce.
