American Legacies Concert

Debate Watch Party

Antique Fair
MORRILTON — The fourth annual Antique Fair will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Railroad Depot Museum in Morrilton, 101 E. Railroad Ave. Individuals may bring antiques, furniture, pottery, silver, photos, art or other treasures for a free appraisal by experts from Pinnacle Auction and Estate Service, John and Phyllis Saugey, and Betty and Terry Saugey of Saugey’s Antiques. Donations will be accepted for the museum. A silent auction will be held to benefit the museum, as well as other exhibits and a bake sale.
Octoberfest
MORRILTON — Sacred Heart Catholic School will hold Octoberfest, with a 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m., beginning at the Knights of Columbus Hall. A bake sale will be held at 4 p.m., followed by an all-you-can-eat turkey-and-dressing dinner from 5-8 p.m. Dinner costs $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-12. Flying Jam
MARSHALL — The fifth annual Flying Jam will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Searcy County Airport in Marshall. There will be musical entertainment, and more than 20 flying machines with several styles will be represented. There will be a C-130 flyby. The music stage will be in the airport’s hangar, so attendees are asked to bring folding chairs. Admission and parking are free. Horseshoe Tournament
MORRILTON — The 2012 Great Arkansas Pig Out Horseshoe Tournament will be held at the Morrilton Nature Park horseshoe pits on Levi Street. There will be multiple divisions based on age and gender, and participants can enter both the singles and doubles events. The entry fee is $5, plus another $5 for a T-shirt for singles, and $10 for the doubles. Regulation shoes must be used, and there will be extra shoes on site. Registration forms can be turned in to City Hall, 210 N. Moose St. On-site registration will be from 9 to 10 a.m. the day of the tournament. Pet Fair
CONWAY — The Faulkner County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will hold its annual pet fair from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the lawn of the Faulkner County Courthouse, 801 Locust St. The annual yard sale will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the pet fair will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The pet fair offers a silent auction, microchipping, nail trimming, a doggie wash and more. There will be rescued animals, vendors, guests speakers and the Arkansas Banshees, a women’s tackle football team. Fall Exhibitions
CONWAY — Baum Gallery’s fall season of exhibitions: So Tiny: An Exhibition of Small Works in 3D; Juried Bodies of Work: The Baum MFA Biennial 2012; and Small Talk: Works on Paper by Heather Gordon, are on view at the gallery through Oct. 25 in McCastlain Hall. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The gallery is closed on Sundays. CONWAY — Amy Routt, group exercise coordinator with Conway Regional Health and Fitness Center, will be the featured health expert for virtual training for the Soaring Wings Half Marathon. Routt, a certified personal trainer, will teach group exercise classes and discuss proper techniques for stretching and flexibility needed for avoiding injury while training and running the half marathon. MAUMELLE — In-depth 11-week studies of the Bible for women and men meet each Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Maumelle. The men’s group is studying the ministry of the apostle Paul, the dynamics of an early church and receiving encouragement of hope in Christ. Chet Obremski is facilitating the group, which meets from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the church’s activity building. LESLIE — The first Leslie Mountain Man Rendezvous will be held Oct. 12-14. Re-enactors wearing circa-1840 clothing will be camped in tents in Leslie behind the Killebrew House. Riverview Baptist Fall Festival
OPPELO — Riverview Baptist Christian School’s 40th annual Fall Festival will be held Oct. 13 at the school. The event will feature a traditional ham and dressing dinner, silent and live auctions, a cakewalk, a treasure hunt, a hayride, a jailhouse, a bounce house, a bounce slide, a country store, and many other games and activities. Dinner tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and $6 for children ages 5-12. Children younger than 5 may eat free. The dinner will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m., and other activities will be in the gym from 6-7:30 p.m. Proceeds will be used to purchase computer and technology equipment and some playground equipment for the school. Walk for the Kids!
RUSSELLVILLE — Walk for the Kids! — a fundraising event for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20 at Old Post Park, on the stage and in pavilions 3 and 4.
