Police: Traffic stop turns into 100+ mph chase

A North Little Rock man led authorities on a chase late Sunday night that topped 100 miles per hour before finally stopping, arrest records show.

Antonio Lamont Rice, 27, was arrested shortly before midnight when he pulled off in the 2000 block of North Hills Boulevard in North Little Rock, police said.

According to an arrest report, a North Little Rock officer tried to pull over a vehicle Rice was driving after it failed to stop at a stop sign near 22nd Street and Pike Avenue.

Police say the driver — later identified as Rice — refused to pull off, disregarding multiple stop signs and stoplights on a chase that made its way to Interstate 40.

There, the pursuit reached speeds topping 100 mph. At one point, Rice's vehicle passed another vehicle on the shoulder, nearly causing a wreck, the report said.

Rice is due in court Wednesday on charges of fleeing and violation of a protection order. Police say a woman who had a protection order against him was also in the vehicle.

Rice was booked into the Pulaski County jail, where he remained Monday morning with no bail set.
