Pine Bluff firefighter dies in collision with 18-wheeler

A Pine Bluff firefighter died Thursday morning in a collision with a 18-wheeler, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Caleb Satterlee, 24, of Monticello, was northbound on U.S 425 near the Lincoln-Drew county line when he lost control of his 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck, crossed the center line and collided with the 18-wheeler about 5:45 a.m., the report states. Police noted that it was raining at the time of the accident.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

Satterlee had been a firefighter with the City of Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services since February 2011, Fire Capt. Harold Clark Jr. said in a news release. He was training to become a certified technician for hazardous materials.

“Caleb will truly be missed,” Fire Chief Shauwn Howell said in the release. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife (Amy), family and friends.”
