Mena man killed after motorcycle overturns on Arkansas 246

A Mena man died Friday night after he lost control of his motorcycle on Arkansas 246 in Polk County, authorities said.

The accident happened at 10:57 p.m., according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary report.

Ryan Jones, 29, was traveling east in a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle on Arkansas 246 when he lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown off of it after the motorcycle overturned, the report states.

It is not clear what caused Jones to lose control of his motorcycle. The report states conditions were clear and dry at the time of the accident.

Jones was taken to the Mena Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:57 p.m, police said.

Jones's death marks the 326th fatality in traffic accidents on Arkansas roads, according to preliminary figures.
