Fayetteville half-marathon canceled over weather

FAYETTEVILLE — The Fayetteville Half Marathon that was to be run Saturday has been called off by organizers because of ice lingering from last week's wintery storm.

Race organizers said Wednesday that people who paid entry fees won't be getting their money back. 642 people registered for the race, and they were initially told they could get a 20 percent discount on next year's race.

The race organizer, All Sports Productions, said on the race's Facebook page that the company heard the complaints made by runners and that they'd offer more options next week.

Fayetteville television station KHOG reported that organizers say they already spent most of the entry fees on race preparations.
