Hit-and-run accident leaves man, 63, in critical condition

A 63-year-old man was critically injured Thursday after he was struck by an unknown vehicle near a Markham Street intersection, according to a Little Rock Police Department report released Friday afternoon.

The report shows that Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services responded to the intersection of Markham Street and Rodney Parham Road about 6:18 a.m. to a report of a a person laying near the middle of the road. The vehicle involved and the exact area of where the accident occurred are unknown because there were no witnesses at the scene and the victim, identified as Bob Thompson, of Little Rock, is blind, authorities said. Surrounding businesses near the intersection did not have any cameras that could have captured footage of the accident, police said.

Thompson was taken to the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock to be treated for unspecified injuries, according to the report. He was last listed in critical condition Thursday afternoon.

Calls to Little Rock police were not immediately returned Friday.
