Deputies are investigating a shooting that killed a 14-year-old boy Thursday night, the Jackson County sheriff's office said in a statement Friday.

Police received a report about 7:15 p.m. of a shooting that occurred at a home located at 510 Main St. in Swifton, the county sheriff's office said.

When police arrived, they found Isaac Odell Williams, of Newport, with a gunshot wound on his face. Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas said the shooting appears to be accidental, but that an investigation is ongoing.
