Tebow still big man on SEC circuit

The SEC Network is turning to one of the conference’s most wellknown figures for its pregame show.

Former Florida quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner TimTebow will be an analyst for SEC Nation, the SEC Network’s traveling pregame show that will broadcast from a different SEC campus every week beginning Aug. 28, 2014.

Tebow, 26, who was released by the New England Patriots at the end of training camp last summer, will also contribute to several ESPN shows, including SportsCenter. He will appear on ESPN Radio and the network’s Heisman Trophy coverage.

According to SI.com, Tebow will make his first appearance as an ESPN analyst during pregame coverage of the BCS Championship Game between Florida State and Auburn on Monday.

“When I was 6 years old I fell in love with the game of football,” Tebow tweeted Monday, “and while I continue to pursue my dream of playing quarterback in the NFL, this is an amazing opportunity to be a part of the unparalleled passion of college football and the SEC.”

Tebow spent three seasons in the NFL, throwing 17 touchdown passes. He led Denver to the AFC West title in 2011 and guided the Broncos to a wild-card playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Not everybody believes Tebow will be in the booth next fall.

“How will Tebow work for the SEC Network in August,” tweeted Bart Hubbuch of The New York Post. “He’s going to be in camp as the Browns’ starting QB under Josh McDaniels then.” If this is it?

Does Andrew Bynum want to play basketball anymore?

That’s the thought raised bya source close to Yahoo! Sports NBA writer Adrian Wojnarowski.

Bynum was suspended with pay indefinitely Monday by the Cleveland Cavaliers for “conduct detrimental to the team.” The Cavaliers could shop Bynum, whose contract is more than $12million. If they were to release Bynum before Jan.

7, the Cavaliers would only have to pay about half of his yearly salary and wouldn’t have to pay the final year of his deal (2014-2015).

Bynum missed the entire 2012-2013 season with a knee injury after being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers. He signed a two-year deal with the Cavaliers last summer as he attempted to get his career back on track.

In 24 games, Bynum has averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds and 20 minutes.

Basketball Hall of Famer and former Bynum mentor Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said he thinks that Bynum’s heart isn’t into basketball.

“He just doesn’t seem to be consistent with his commitment to the game. That can lead to a lot of frustration for any team that has signed him,” Abdul-Jabbar wrote on his Facebook page. “When I worked with Andrew I found him to be bright and hardworking, but I think he got bored with the repetitive nature of working on basketball fundamentals day in and day out … but they are the keys to long term success.”

“In my opinion Andrew is the type of person who walks to the beat of ‘a different drummer.’ So we won’t know the facts until Andrew decides to tell us what actually is the issue and shares his thoughts.”

Stay tuned.
