Conway officer struck by car dies

Officer William Michael McGary.
A Conway police officer died Friday after being hit by a car Thursday night.
According to a Conway Police Department news release, Officer William Michael McGary passed away shortly after 5 p.m. Friday from injuries suffered in the accident.
McGary was directing traffic about 8 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Dave Ward Drive and Exchange Street when a vehicle struck him.
McGary was airlifted from the scene and taken to a Little Rock hospital.
The driver who struck McGary, identified by police as Barry Strickland, was arrested at the scene.
