Former Vice President Al Gore spoke to patrons at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock on Monday evening to promote his new book, "THE FUTURE: Six Drivers of Global Change."

Gore, who served in President Bill Clinton's administration for his eight years in office, spoke about security initiatives and the need for sustainable investing.

The lecture came as part of the Kumpuris Distinguished Lecture Series, held in the Clinton Center's Great Hall.

Gore said his book highlights the ways that the United States can remain a world leader in economic development, even though many people throughout the world see the country on the downturn of its economic dominance.

Among his points, Gore claimed that one main reason the U.S. can remain an economic stalwart is because there's no other country on Earth equipped to lead the world's economy.

"You'll find people in almost every country looking to the U.S. as the model for, you know, the way they'd like to be," Gore said. "... Democracy, they like the prosperity and they feel like the U.S. is just inspiring. But they're asking, in quiet moments, 'what's going on in the U.S.?'"

Following the lecture, hundreds waited in line for a signed copy of the book.

The lecture comes as part of a 30-city tour to promote the book over three-week period. Gore said the idea for the book came to him after a speech overseas in which he was asked what he believes will drive global change.

He needs to go vegan like Clinton. Does sustainable investing include selling out to a company that has made tons of money in the oilfields?

First it was Jeb Bush, now this loser.

I suppose that there are many different philosophical types of Vegans. What Gore would claim I have no clue.

One thing he doesn't have a clue about is what causes the rhythmic ebb and flow of the Warm and Cold cycles throughout the Millennial ages of our Planet. And their cause.

Gore is smarter than anyone commenting here. He is going to be vindicated probably sooner rather than later, unfortunately. Human caused global warming is the greatest challenge that humanity has faced in thousands of years on this planet. We are only seeing the leading edge of problems it is going to cause and these events have overwhelmed our infrastructure and and lives.

So this is how it works; talk about global warming but make millions selling to a company making tons of money in the oilfields. He has no spine, but apparently his gut makes up for it. His carbon footprint is more than anyone commenting on these pages; take that one to the bank Mr. Foster

Cliff, vegan is vegan; it worked for Clinton and his health. I think Mr. Gore needs to try to do the same.

Redwings

There are several types of Vegan Philosophies, one that includes human behavior as a type of Vegan Philosophy.

Al Gore knows that his spiel is a cooked bad science. So smart ain't got nothing to do with it. Knowledge is in the forefront when discussing Human caused Global Warming. And I think surely those who support his flawed mantra are not necessarily in his camp simply based on his science.

One of the leading proponents of Human Caused Global Warming today is the very same scientist who back in the 70's was the leading proponent of the oncoming Ice Age.

Look it up.
