Connection returns to feed families

— Volunteer organization the Lunch Box Connection will be back in action over Cabot Public Schools’ spring break, serving up free lunches to kids and families in need.

The organization, started by Cabot resident Susan Hedin in late 2012, accepts food donations from area businesses and serves them up as hot meals during lunchtime while Cabot schools are on break. The meals are offered as a supplement for students who normally depend on a school’s free or reduced-price lunch plans and may not have another option for getting regular meals while school is out.

The service will return March 15 and 18-22. Meals will be served from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ward Central Elementary School, 1570 Wilson Loop Road in Ward, and Westside Elementary School, 1701 S. Second St. in Cabot.

Those interested in volunteering can contact Susan Hedin at lunchboxconnection@gmail.com.
