Ex-Prime Minister Manning hospitalized after apparent seizure

— Former Trinidad & Tobago Prime Minister Patrick Manning has been hospitalized after collapsing from an apparent seizure.

His son, David, says Manning had the attack Thursday at his office.

Early last year, Manning was hospitalized for what his office said was a “mild” stroke. He also received treatment in the U.S.

The lawmaker returned to Trinidad in August, but was given indefinite leave by the House speaker. He now walks with a cane and his right hand and leg were visibly affected by the stroke.

The 66-year-old Manning was prime minister from 1991 to 1995 and again from 2001 to 2010.

His People’s National Movement lost the 2010 elections. Manning kept his seat in Parliament but was ousted as party leader.
