The victim, Charnette Smith, told authorities she was shot by a man she didn't know who then left in a white sport utility vehicle, according to a police report. Smith was taken to UAMS Medical Center, though the report did not indicate how serious her injuries were.

Shortly after the shooting, officers stopped a vehicle matching the description for driving recklessly at 20th and Franklin streets, the report said. Police say a revolver with five rounds loaded and one spent shell casing was found under the passenger seat where Randolph was sitting.

He was taken into custody and Smith identified him as the gunman from a photo lineup, police said.

The driver of the SUV said she was asleep in the vehicle when Randolph screamed for her to get in the driver seat while running from the residence, according to the report.

Randolph is reportedly a felon with a conviction out of Indiana.
