LITTLE ROCK — The Little Rock Central High School Band and Flag Line left Thursday morning for Washington, D.C., to perform Monday afternoon in the presidential inaugural parade.

The band, under the direction of Brice Evans, successfully raised about $100,000 for the trip, or about $1,000 per person in the group. That financial help included a donationfrom the city of Little Rock and the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The 57th Inaugural Parade is to begin at 1:30 p.m.
More than 2,807 applications for parade participation were submitted by a Nov. 30 deadline. About 85 organizations were selected to perform.
Also, the Central High group is to use the trip to see many of Washington’s landmarks.
