BEAMING WITH PRIDE

Pulaski Technical College samples culinary building

— At the center of the sun-filled reception area on the Pulaski Technical College’s Little Rock South campus, a 10-foot white steel beam was on display Jan. 18, and students, college trustees, faculty and guests were invited to sign their names. Eventually, that beam was raised to its rightful place inside the college’s new Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute.

Among the speakers was the college’s foundation board member Charles Owen, vice chairman of development. He announced the start of a capital campaign to furnish and equip the institute.

The 52,000-square-foot facility being built next to the Little Rock South campus on Interstate 30 is expected to open this fall and will accommodate 800 students. The growing culinary program is headed by chef Todd Gold.

Guests at the topping out and beam signing celebration enjoyed a sampling of sweets and appetizers prepared by current students and staff.
