BENTON Benton police arrested two suspects Monday that are believed to be responsible for multiple thefts in the area.
Officers said they saw a vehicle that matched the description of one used in recent robberies and pulled it over. The police report states that after talking with the suspects, 39-year-old Kevin Kelley and 33-year-old Kristy Stuckey, police determined they were in possession of stolen items. Kelley and Stuckey were then taken into custody and charged with theft by receiving.
According to the Saline County sheriff's office's online inmate roster, both Stuckey and Kelley are being held at the county jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
Stuckey is an active parolee and Kelley is an absconder out on probation and parole, the report states.
Kelley and Stuckey are believed to be responsible for multiple thefts in central Arkansas involving car lots and construction sites, police said. The Benton Police Department is working with other agencies to see if they are responsible. Police estimated the value of the stolen items found in their possession Monday at approximately $8,350, but that number could increase if the two suspects are linked to other thefts.
Police said that because the investigation is ongoing more charges could be filed in the near future.
Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to call Benton Police at 501-778-1171 or 315-TIPS.
