Searcy man held in drugstore robbery

A Searcy man is accused in a Thursday drugstore robbery that represented the third armed robbery in the White County city in a week's time.

In conducting a search of a home on Williams Avenue about midnight, detectives found prescription drugs and a handgun that matched the description of those involved in the Thursday afternoon holdup of Lowery Drug Market at 700 Golf Course Drive, the Searcy Police Department said in a statement.

Police said Thursday that witnesses saw a white male walk into the store, brandishing a gun, and demand prescription medications.

Detectives arrested Preston Scott Landis, 28, and charged him with aggravated robbery. He is being held at the White County jail in lieu of $75,000 bond and is set to appear in court Aug. 6, police said.

The other robberies in the past week Citgo Gas Station at 401 N. Maple Drive and the Valero gas station at 2000 S. Main St. Searcy police have not said whether they think the three robberies are related.
