2 motorcycle drivers die in Saturday crashes

Two motorcycle drivers were killed in separate accidents Saturday afternoon, Arkansas State Police said.

George Castle, 66, of Phoenix, Ariz., was driving a 1996 Honda north on Arkansas 9 at Alum Creek in Saline County around 2:05 p.m. and failed to negotiate a curve, causing his motorcycle to go off the road onto the shoulder, officials said. Castle was ejected from the motorcycle, the report states. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said conditions were dry and clear in the area. Castle is the 220th person killed in crashes on Arkansas roads this year according to prelimary reports.

Johnny Allen Looney, 56, of Black Oak, was driving a 1996 Harley-Davidson south on Arkansas 135 in Craighead County around 5:34 p.m. when he ran off the road in a curve and was ejected from the motorcycle, the report states. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police describe conditions as clear and dry in the area. Looney is the 222nd person killed in crashes on Arkansas roads this year according to preliminary reports.
