Authorities investigate fatal house fire in White County

By Jeanette Anderton

This article was published June 22, 2013 at 12:23 p.m.

A Judsonia man died Saturday morning in a house fire, White County sheriff’s department spokesman Bill Higginbotham said.

Jerry Davis, 48, was found dead inside the house at 1888 Rocky Point Road in Judsonia as White County deputies, Judsonia police, NorthStar Ambulance personnel and Judsonia and Rocky Point fire departments responded to the fire around 3:26 a.m., Higginbotham said.

An Arkansas State Police fire marshal said in his preliminary report that the fire started in the kitchen. His findings are consistent with “something possibly being left unattended on the stove,” the report states.

An autopsy will be performed at the Arkansas Crime Lab to determine the cause of death.

Higginbotham said no further information was available Saturday afternoon and that the investigation is ongoing.
