Local contestants to compete for Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen

— Two young women with ties to the Three Rivers Edition coverage area will compete in Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen Pageant Wednesday through Saturday at the Hot Springs Convention Center’s Horner Hall.

Preliminary competition will be held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with the winner to be announced on Saturday.

Local contestants include the following:

• Miss Batesville: Reagan Wheelis of Melbourne, the 16-year-old daughter of Brad and Tina Wheelis, is a student at Melbourne High School. She will present a piano solo, “Maple Leaf Rag,” for her talent. Her platform issue is Breast Cancer Awareness.

• Miss Greater Jacksonville: Christian Weatherley of Cabot, the 15-year-old daughter of Ronnie and Darlene Weatherley, is a student at Cabot High School. She will present a tap dance to “Ice Ice Baby” for her talent. Her platform issue is I Can Dance: Helping Children With Disabilities Believe in Themselves.
