7 state properties to get historic-nod consideration

The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program's review board next week will consider seven properties or districts for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places, the agency has announced.

Little Rock's Dunbar Historic District — the historically black area surrounding what now is Dunbar Magnet Middle School — is among those on the list. Preservation program documents note the district's historically black institutional buildings, historically significant architecture and status as the heart of the black community in Little Rock from the late 19th to the mid-20th centuries.

Other properties to be considered for nominations are:

• Moose Addition Historic District in Morrilton.

• Booneville Commercial Historic District in Booneville.

• President's House at Arkansas Southern University and the Rushton Clinic in Magnolia.

• Mounds Cemetery in Columbus.

• Adrian Fletcher House of Fayetteville

The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. April 3 in the Bessie B. Moore conference room at the Arkansas State Library, 900 W. Capitol Ave. in Little Rock.
