A 15-year-old boy died overnight after a Thursday hit-and-run in Pulaski County.

The teen was walking with a friend in the 3100 block of Willow Springs Road about 9 p.m. when a white Chevrolet sedan struck him, stopping briefly before driving away, Pulaski County Sheriff's Lt. James Burk said. The victim's friend told officers that the vehicle appeared to be speeding.

The boy was taken by helicopter to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, where he later died from his injuries, Burk said.

The vehicle involved in the accident has not yet been located.

Correction: The original story incorrectly reported the victim's age was 14. This was due to a mistake in his hospital record. The boy's age has been corrected in the story above.
