From left, actors Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake and director Ethan Coen arrive for the screening of Inside Llewyn Davis at the 66th international film festival, in Cannes, southern France, on Sunday, May 19, 2013.

Memphis Mayor A C Wharton says it's about time to put on a suit and tie: He has designated Monday as Justin Timberlake Day in the city.

Timberlake, the 32-year-old entertainer, is a native Tennessean and is taking his 20/20 Experience World Tour to the FedEx Forum on Monday night.

In a statement Friday, Wharton's office exhorts Memphians to participate in welcoming Timberlake home by wearing their favorite bow ties and posting pictures to social media using the hashtag #JTDay. Business owners with digital signs are encouraged to post marquee messages such as "Welcome Home JT" or "Memphis Loves JT."

In addition, Wharton and other city officials will official proclaim the day in honor of Timberlake at 1 p.m. Monday at the Westin Memphis Beale Street Hotel, 170 Lt. George W Lee Ave., according to the mayor's statement.
