An 83-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle collision Friday in Union County, according to an Arkansas state preliminary crash report.
The accident occurred about 4:47 p.m. in dry and clear conditions, the report states.
Police said El Dorado resident Robert Owens had turned onto U.S. 82 from his home's driveway in a Kawasaki vehicle when an unidentified driver of a 2006 Chevrolet vehicle traveling west rear-ended Owens' vehicle.
Authorities pronounced Owens dead at the scene.
Owens' death marks the 423rd fatality in traffic accidents on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary reports.
