Purse-snatching thwarted by car's passenger

A man who tried to steal a purse out of a car was apprehended by a passenger in the vehicle, allowing authorities to take him into custody, Little Rock police said.

Zach Looney, 25, of Little Rock walked up to a car and acted as if he were lost, according to a Little Rock Police Department report. During an exchange with a passenger in the car, Looney grabbed a purse from out of the car and tried to run, police said. After Looney briefly escaped, the passenger tackled him behind the car and subdued him, the report states.

Officers were called to the 2500 block of West Seventh Street, where they determined Looney had an active warrant out for his arrested and took him into custody.

Looney was charged with robbery. He was booked into the Pulaski County jail on a robbery charge and remains there in lieu of $35,000 bond.
