Authorities on Monday identified the Jacksonville SWAT officer shot in the arm during a drug raid outside Cabot early Friday morning.

The Jacksonville Police Department said Officer Jerry Keefer was the lawman treated and released at a hospital for a gunshot wound in his arm, which he suffered after making entry into the home at 2327 Backbone Road.

Police said the resident of that home, Mark Dodson, opened fire and was injured by return fire from police. Dodson, who suffered at least one gunshot wound, remained in the hospital Monday, authorities said. His condition Friday was described as serious.

Police said Keefer and two other Jacksonville officers were placed on administrative leave pending a full investigation into the officer-involved shooting. The other officers were identified as John Alberson, a 15-year-veteran officer, and Sgt. Christopher Shultz, a 7-year veteran.

Dodson is expected to be charged with at least one count of criminal attempt to commit capital murder once he is discharged from the hospital.
