Arkadelphia housing official accused of sexual assault

Authorities in Arkadelphia are investigating a claim that the executive director of the Arkadelphia Housing Authority sexually assaulted a man in the housing authority's office last month.

Frederick Hatley, 56, is accused of assaulting the victim at the office, located at 670 S. Sixth St. in Arkadelphia, on the night of Sept. 11, according to an affidavit released by the Arkadelphia Police Department.

The victim was later given a sexual assault exam at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia, the affidavit states.

Hatley denied the allegations when questioned by authorities the following day and voluntarily provided them with a DNA sample, according to the report. On Oct. 3, the exam results from the state Crime Laboratory revealed a positive match Hatley, and he was later taken into custody.

An Arkadelphia Police Department spokesman said Hatley was released Friday afternoon in lieu of $75,000 bond.
