A technological issue with the city of Little Rock's new "Pay and Display" parking meters will delay the issuance of any tickets for at least a few days.
The city said in a statement that the machines, which are set up in the River Market, are still being calibrated and are not currently printing payment receipts. As a result, city parking enforcement officers will not be writing tickets until the problem is fixed.
Parking Enforcement Administrator Jack Wrenn said in a statement that the company that built the meters, the Wisconsin-based Duncan Solutions, is sending a team to Little Rock to assess the problem. The units will be turned off for the time being.
Wrenn said the problem should be corrected "by the middle of the week."
So far, only warnings have been issued to those failing to use the units while they are working, according to Wrenn. No fines have been issued yet for failing to display a payment receipt on their car.
The "Pay and Display" system was installed earlier this month. The meters are set up along President Clinton Avenue, the 100 block of Sherman Street and the 100 block of River Market Avenue, Wrenn previously stated. A total of eight meters will be used, and each one will be enforced for an assigned section of parking spaces, he said.
