HOPE - George Frazier, an early backer of Bill Clinton and a key organizer in the effort to preserve the former president’s boyhood home as a National Historic Site, has died. He was 94.
Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope said Frazier died Sunday in Little Rock.
Frazier made a career in insurance after moving to Hope after World War II.
In 1977, while giving an introduction for then-Arkansas Attorney General Clinton, Frazier predicted that Clinton would soon become governor and that he’d one day be elected president.
Frazier served on the board for the Clinton Birthplace Foundation. He also helped establish the Virginia Clinton Kelley Nursing Scholarship at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, in honor of Clinton’s mother, who was a nurse.
Frazier’s wife, Effie Hyatt Frazier, died Oct. 10.
