HAPPY 35TH

It was a Watershed moment

It was an evening of celebration on Oct. 18 as the Watershed Human and Community Development Agency marked its 35th anniversary with a banquet and program, A Portrait of Partnership and Service to God and Humanity. Held at Moody Chapel Life Center, the event was also a way to honor those who have partnered with the nonprofit to help it succeed in its mission to help people move from dependency to self-sufficiency.

Among those receiving awards were KATV, Channel 7, reporter Jeannette Reyes and general manager Mark Rose, who each received Phyllis Brandon Media Philanthropist Journalist awards. The Volunteer Award was given to Wayne Hansberry. Former U.S. Rep. Mike Ross was the evening’s keynote speaker.

Bettye Jackson is chairman of the Watershed’s board of directors and the Rev.

Hezekiah Stewart is its founder and executive director.
