Oregon’s offense wears out UCLA

EUGENE, Ore. - Byron Marshall ran for 133 yards and three touchdowns and No. 3 Oregon wore down No. 12 UCLA’s stout defense for a 42-14 victory on Saturday night.

Marcus Mariota threw for 230 yards and a score and De’Anthony Thomas returned from a three-game absence to run in another for the Ducks (8-0, 5-0).

The Bruins (5-2, 2-2) went into halftime with the score tied at 14 but were shut out by the Ducks in the second half.

Brett Hundley completed 13 of 19 passes for 64 yards and 1 touchdown but also threw 2 interceptions, including one early in the fourth quarter that led to an Oregon touchdown. He also ran for 64 yards and a score.

UCLA hasn’t won at Autzen Stadium since 2004 and hasn’t defeated the Ducks since a 16-0 shutout in 2007. The teams last met in 2011, when Oregon defeated UCLA 49-31 in the inaugural Pacific-12 Championship Game.

In other Pacific-12 games, Cody Kessler passed for 230 yards and Nelson Agholor scored the game’s only touchdown with an early 30-yard reception for Southern California (5-3, 2-2) in a 19-3 victory over Utah (4-4, 1-4) in Los Angeles. ... Ka’Deem Carey rushed for four touchdowns and Arizona (5-2, 2-2) extended Colorado’s (3-4, 0-4) Pac-12 losing streak to a dozen games with a 44-20 victory over the Buffaloes in Boulder, Colo.

MOUNTAIN WEST Rees leads Irish

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Tommy Rees showed no signs of a strained neck that knocked him out a week ago, throwing a career-high five touchdown passes to help Notre Dame rout Air Force 45-10 on Saturday.

The senior was on target all day, completing 17 of 22 passes for 284 yards as the Fighting Irish (6-2) won their third in a row. Rees now has 54 career TD passes and moves past Ron Powlus for third place in team history.

Rees was back on the field a week after leaving the game with a neck ailment in the second half of a victory over USC. Rees was solid all week in practice and sensational on Saturday as he picked apart the secondary of the Falcons (1-7), who dropped their seventh consecutive game.

In other games involving Mountain West teams, Caleb Herring passed for 335 yards and three touchdowns and UNLV (5-3, 3-1) defeated upstate rival Nevada (3-5, 2-3) 27-22 in Reno. … David Fales passed for 482 yards and five touchdowns and scored his first rushing touchdown of the season with eight seconds left to leadSan Jose State (4-3, 3-1) over Wyoming (4-4, 2-2) 51-44 in San Jose, Calif.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC Louisville rolls

TAMPA, Fla. - Teddy Bridgewater threw for 344 yards and three touchdowns and No. 20 Louisville rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 34-3 rout of South Florida.

Charles Gaines returned a fourth-quarter interception 70 yards for a TD as the Cardinals’ defense reverted to the form that helped Louisville (7-1, 3-1) climb into the top 10 before blowing a 21-point, second-half lead at home during a 38-35 loss to Central Florida.

Bridgewater completed 25 of 29 passes with no interceptions, raising his totals for the season to 23 TDs with two picks. In three career games against USF (2-5, 2-1), the junior from Miami has gone 65 of 82 for 841 yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions.

In other games involving American Athletic Conference teams, Blake Bortles threw for four touchdowns and ran for another as No. 23 Central Florida (6-1, 3-0) routed winless Connecticut (0-7, 0-3) 62-17 in Orlando, Fla. … Freshman John O’Korn threw for career bests of 364 yards and five touchdowns and Houston (6-1, 3-0) forced a season-high six turnovers in routing error-prone Rutgers (4-3, 1-2) 49-14 in Piscataway, N.J. … Garrett Gilbert accounted for six touchdowns to lead SMU (3-4, 2-1) back from a 21-point deficit to outscore Temple (1-7, 0-4) 59-49 in Dallas. Gilbert finished the game with a Mustangs-record 538 passing yards and 4 touchdown passes.

SUN BELT Troy outlasts WKU

TROY, Ala. - Corey Robinson threw for 306 yards and Jordan Chunn ran for two scores to lead Troy to a 32-26 victory over Western Kentucky.

A late drive by Western Kentucky (4-4, 1-3) was stalled as Antonio Andrews fell inches short of the first down at the Troy 22-yard line with just inside two minutes to play. The Hilltoppers lost despite outperforming the Trojans (5-3, 3-1) on offense with 532 yards.

Troy outscored WKU 22-6 in the second half, erasing a 20-10 halftime deficit.

Robinson became the Sun Belt’s all-time leader in touchdown passes after his 40-yard score to Chris Williams in the third quarter.

In other games involving Sun Belt Conference teams, Kolton Browning threw for 224 yards and four touchdowns to lead host Louisiana-Monroe (4-4, 2-1) past Georgia State (0-8, 0-3) 38-10. … Jason Dann kicked four field goals on Texas State’s (5-3, 2-2) last five possessions to foil stubborn South Alabama (3-4, 1-2) 33-31 in San Marcos, Texas.
