DWI is charge after 4-car crash

A 64-year-old man is facing a driving while intoxicated charge among other traffic offenses after authorities said he caused a four-vehicle collision on Interstate 30 Monday.

About 9:30 a.m., Arkansas State Police were called to the Interstate 30 bridge after Lawrence Mosier, who was driving a red Honda, side-swiped a Ford Expedition, department spokesman Bill Sadler said. That led to a “chain-reaction crash” involving two other vehicles, he said.

Mosier was charged with DWI, careless and prohibited driving and no proof of insurance and was taken to a Little Rock hospital, Sadler said. One other driver with minor injuries was taken to a hospital.

The boy, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock.

Late Monday, authorities were searching for the boy’s father, who wasn’t at the home when deputies got there.

Hit by 3 students, school guards say

Three J.A. Fair High School students assaulted school security officials Friday during a school assembly, police said.

Little Rock police officers charged three 16-year-old boys with second-degree battery after they got into a fight with a truancy officer over a hat.

Truancy Officer Vincent Thompson, 45, approached one of the teenagers during the assembly and told him to remove his hat and then took it off the student when the student refused, according to a police report. The student responded with, “I’m going to beat your [expletive] [expletive]!” the report said.

When the student extended his arms, Thompson tried to restrain him but was attacked by another student who struck him several times in the upper body causing him to fall. He was kicked and hit while he was down by two students, the report said.

School Security Supervisor Tony Kelly tried to restrain one of them but was pushed and fell backward, striking his head on the bleachers. The first student told another school resource officer who restrained him that Thompson assaulted him and he was only defending himself, according to the report.

kidnap charge

A North Little Rock man accused of kidnapping his child’s mother was arrested Friday, according to reports.

Edwin Slater, also known as “G Stacks,” 30, was arrested on warrants and charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault of a family or household member. He remained at the Pulaski County jail Monday in lieu of a $102,000 bond.

On Oct. 17, Little Rock officers were called to 11317 Yosemite Valley Drive. Stacy Campbell, 23, told authorities she went to an apartment, where she used to live with a female roommate and Slater, her child’s father, to gather some of her belongings, police said, adding that she moved out when he “began to be abusive toward her.”

When Campbell went into the apartment, Slater met her at the door, pointed a pistol at her and started cursing at her, police said. She immediately left, but Slater followed her out and got into the backseat of her car, police said.

He then struck her in the back of the head with a pistol and held it to her head, ordering her to drive, police said. Campbell began driving recklessly, causing Slater to grow annoyed and fire a shot into the air, police said. Once she slowed down, Slater got out and ran east.

Officers later found a 9mm shell casing in the front passenger seat of the car and a Ruger 9mm pistol and 11 bullets in the trash can in the Shorty Small’s restaurant women’s restroom, police said.
