UA opens new terrace at student union

FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas has unveiled an addition to its student union -- a terrace designed as a more casual place for students to relax.

The south terrace at the Arkansas Union opened at noon Tuesday with a ceremony featuring the dean of students and the chairman of the Arkansas Union Advisory Committee Student Board.

The school said students had asked for a more relaxing place around the union. The terrace has a covered and an open seating area. The terrace also has an outdoor fireplace, a laptop bar, multiple outlet plugs and seating created out of recycled post-consumer milk jugs.
