3 CHORUS

John Rutter’s Requiem will be the centerpiece of the River City Men’s Chorus’ season opener, titled “Sing to Me of Heaven,” 3 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1101 N. Mississippi St., Little Rock. The program will also include a collection of gospel pieces and even a song by Dolly Parton. David Glaze conducts. Admission is free.

4 COOKE

Mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke will open the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Artspree season at 3 p.m. Sunday with a recital in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts Building, UALR, 2801 S. University Ave., Little Rock. Cooke, with Artspree director Naoki Hakutani at the keyboard, will sing four selections from Hugo Wolf’s song cycle Morike-Lieder; A Charm of Lullabies, op.41, by Benjamin Britten; four of Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs; Three Early Songs by George Crumb; and chansons by Maurice Ravel and Francis Poulenc. Budding artists will paint the town - or at least cover part of it with chalk - at Thea Paves the Way, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Clinton Presidential Center. The annual sidewalk chalk event, which also includes music and other activities, is presented by the Thea Foundation to support art in education. 6 CONCERT

Family-friendly music and activities are on the schedule as Family Tree Productions presents Legends of Arkansas, a music and arts festival at First Security Amphitheatre and the River Market Pavilion, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday. The child-centric portion of the day will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with kid-friendly music and activities. Performers include Weakness for Blondes, Tyrannosaurus Chicken, Mojo Depot and Runaway Planet. Cirque Eloize will bring a dozen acrobats to the University of Central Arkansas this weekend for Cirkopolis, a “fusion of dance, theater and circus,” 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall, UCA, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway, to open the university’s 2013-14 Public Appearances season. Responsibility and sustainability are the main topics at the annual Conway EcoFest, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday in Laurel Park, Conway. With performances, a cardboard car derby (with registration at 9:30 a.m.), kite show and special programs and exhibits, EcoFest is designed to raise awareness of environmental problems. It’s a day for all ages to enjoy at AETN Family Day Conway, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday on the AETN grounds, 350 S. Donaghey Ave., Conway. “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” is the Mr. Rogers-centric theme for this year’s event, which will include community service drives, contests, photos with PBS Kids characters, production demonstrations, games, art and tours. 9 CONFLICT

Historic Washington State Park starts a new program to help modern visitors understand life during the Civil War. “Town in Conflict,” a living history street drama, features Washington townspeople sharing their stories and fears as the Civil War rages through Arkansas. It will take place 3-5 p.m.

Saturdays in September and other dates through the fall. Drama tickets are $8, $4 for children ages 6-12.

10 CRAFT

Potters, weavers, painters, sculptors and all manner of artists and artisans are throwing open their doors for the annual Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour in and around Pineville, Calico Rock, Mountain View and Fox, Friday-Sunday. The tour gives visitors a chance to see and buy locally made art as well as visit with the artists. Tour hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
