Son sentenced to 60 years for Oklahoma man's death

POTEAU, Okla. — An eastern Oklahoma man has pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the beating death of his father.

Timothy Rue Lockaby had faced an Oct. 3 preliminary hearing on a first-degree murder charge in the March death of his father, Buck Lockaby. The Southwest Times Record of Fort Smith reported Tuesday that Timothy Lockaby was sentenced to 60 years in prison as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.

Under Oklahoma law, the 51-year-old Lockaby must serve 85 percent — or 51 years — of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

A police affidavit alleges that Timothy Lockaby beat his father with a wooden cane at the home they shared in Le Flore County.
