Mercy Health confirms talks with St. Vincent's

HOT SPRINGS — Three months after a different acquisition deal fell through, Mercy Health in Hot Springs says it's in talks with Catholic Health Initiatives, which owns St. Vincent Health System in Little Rock.

According to The Sentinel-Record, Mercy Health said Tuesday that it was in discussions with Catholic Health Initiatives "toward a letter of intent."

The news comes months after Capella Healthcare dropped its plans to acquire the Mercy Health System in Hot Springs. Capella is the parent company of National Park Medical Center, also in Hot Springs.

Also Tuesday, National Park Medical Center announced an expansion plan with estimated costs of $40 million to $45 million.

The hospital says it hopes to expand its offerings in cardiology, medical imaging, emergency services, outpatient services, surgery and women's services.
