Arkansas revenue gets boost in March

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas finance officials say higher-than-expected tax collections and lower refunds paid out helped boost the state's revenue in March.

The Department of Finance and Administration said Wednesday the state's net available general revenue last month totaled $386.5 million. That's $40 million above the same month last year and $43.3 million above forecast.

The state's revenue for the fiscal year that began July 1 is above forecast by $78.2 million.

The state's individual income, sales and corporate income tax collections beat the same month last year and the department's expectations. Individual income tax refunds paid out by the state were lower than March 2013 and below expectations.

So when can all of us tax-paying citizens expect our refund? We obviously were charged too much in taxes. It's our money to begin with and we want it back!

Will this offset the loss of tax money when the lackey puppet republican lapdog legislature gave the energy robber barons a huge reach around and repealed the sand tax?
