3,014 burglaries, 948 robberies reported in first year of LR crime map

Several thousand reports of auto thefts, robberies, batteries and burglaries have been added to the ArkansasOnline interactive Little Rock crime map since it debuted a year ago this week.

A look back at those reports — which are preliminary and may differ somewhat from finalized reports — shows the following totals from April 3, 2013, through Wednesday:

  • 1,295 auto thefts
  • 146 first-degree batteries
  • 2,637 residential burglaries
  • 377 commercial burglaries
  • 948 robberies

Not all of the burglaries included information about the amount of property and cash stolen and some listed the values at $1, indicating an exact amount wasn't known. But those reports that included any sort of estimate in the last year totaled the following:

  • $4,678,087.67 in stolen property
  • $173,412.84 in stolen cash
  • $4,851,500.51 in stolen property and cash

Most of the burglary reports, though not all, included a zip code. Of those, the zip codes with the most burglaries in the span were:

  • 72209 with 742 burglary reports
  • 72204 with 615
  • 72205 with 353
  • 72211 with 250
  • 72202 with 200
  • 72206 with 189
  • 72227 with 187
  • 72207 with 108
  • 72210 with 87
  • 72103 with 76

Zip codes with the most robbery reports, meanwhile, were:

  • 72209 with 231 robbery reports
  • 72204 with 208
  • 72205 with 110
  • 72211 with 85
  • 72202 with 73
  • 72206 with 45
  • 72227 with 42
  • 72210 with 36
  • 72201 with 35
  • 72212 with 22

The map and accompanying searchable database feature preliminary reports for certain crimes as they are made available by the Little Rock Police Department. It started with crime reports from April 3, 2013, and includes the vast majority of days since, though a handful of days are missing because of server problems within the police department's system.
