It happened in the parking lot of the Edwards Food Giant in the shopping center on the southeast corner of 17th and Main streets.

Lt. Sidney Allen, a Little Rock police spokesman, said in an email that a "verbal altercation ... escalated and shots were fired" but no one was hit. A suspect vehicle was stopped about two blocks away.

"The weapon was recovered and all involved parties were transported to the detective offices," Allen wrote, adding he did not yet have the names of any of those involved but that "it is likely they will face aggravated assault charges."

A witness who said he was in his car at the time of the shooting said two women were fighting when a man who he believed to be related to one of them opened fire. He said his car was one in the crime scene that was hit in the the rear tires by the shots, flattening both of them.
