Supreme Court revokes Piggott lawyer’s license

The Arkansas Supreme Court on Thursday revoked the license of Piggott lawyer Lisa Diane Davis after she failed to respond to disciplinary proceedings.

Stark Ligon, the director of the Office of the Committee on Professional Conduct, asked the court for default judgment in the office’s favor after Davis did not reply to his petition for disbarment in May.

In his petition, Ligon cited 15 counts in which Davis violated various rules of professional conduct, including cases involving adoption and personal injury.

Ligon wrote that Davis had failed to follow the court’s procedures in the adoption proceedings and delayed so long in the personal-injury case that the statute of limitations ran its course.

A special master, Judge John Cole, was appointed to review the case and found Davis “committed serious misconduct and was in default for failing to respond after due notice and recommended a sanction of disbarment,” according to the court’s opinion.

Davis’ law office in Piggott has been closed since the Committee on Professional Conduct voted to suspend her license in April 2013 and begin disbarment proceedings, the opinion states.

Davis could not be reached for comment Thursday.
