Search for 2 men in Mississippi River continues

HICKMAN — The search for two men reported missing in the Mississippi River after a barge overturned and sank is in its third day.

Authorities, including the U.S. Coast Guard and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, are still looking for the two men unaccounted for since Tuesday afternoon.

The two men fell into the water while the barge was being unloaded near Blytheville, which is about 60 miles north of Memphis. A U.S. Coast Guard spokesman in New Orleans said the barge lifted to its right and sank, but why it did so wasn't known.

Kinder Morgan said it doesn't own the barge and that the two men worked for the company through a staffing agency. Its spokesman declined to release their names and say who owned the barge.
