Gerald Michael Booe, 61, of Little Rock passed away April6, 2014. He was born on March 21, 1953 to parents Harry and Vica Booe.

He was owner of Paul Bunyan Big and Tall Clothing store for 36 years. He had an infectious laughand a gift of gab as his family, friends and customers will always remember. He was an avid fisherman, a Formula One racing enthusiast and lived life to the fullest.

He was preceded in death by his son, Chaffin, parents, and sister, Vicki Lynn Smith and her husband, Don Smith. He is survived by his son, Brandon, brother, James (La June), sister Nancy Shipe (Mike), many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Charlotte Ann Champion, of Jacksonville, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014. She was born October 29, 1948 in Columbia, La., to Frank Lafferty and the late Helen Lafferty. She was also preceded in death by her husband Gary Champion.

She leaves behind her children Anthony and Colleen Champion; her granddaughter Ashtyn; siblings, Andrew, Daniel, and John Lafferty, and her friend Shirley Young.

MABEL EPPERSON LEE, 101, resident of Lakewood Nursing & Rehab Center, North Little Rock, Ark., received her wings on Friday, April 4, 2014. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings. MARGARET J. “SISSY” NEAL, 83, of Little Rock, passed awayWednesday, April 9, 2014. She was born in England, Ark., to George Thomas “G.T.” and Lillian Rollins and was a member of Markham Street Baptist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, and a superb cook who loved to garden and watch birds.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, L.D. Neal and brother,Carl Rollins, she is survived by her sons, Steve Neal (Debbie) of Conway, David Neal (Donna) of Little Rock and Roger Neal of North Little Rock; daughter, Kelly Neal (Michael) of Little Rock; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

FREDA FRANCES FISCHER RAGAN, 96, of Sherwood, Ark., wascarried by the hands of Holy Angels to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. She was born October 14, 1917, in Dyer and raised in Stuttgart, Ark., to Henry Georgeand Christine Kuhlmeier Fischer. Freda was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She loved cooking, gardening and quilting. She was devoted to her family and they were her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dodson W. Ragan; brothers, Lawrence A. Fischer, Louis M. Fischer, Joseph J. Fischer, and sisters, Mary C. Grantham and Teresa F. Morris; half-brothers, Francis B. Fischer, Henry G. Fischer, Jr., John F. Fischer, George P. Fischer, Edward C. Fischer, and Steven H. Fischer, and half-sister, Josephine Kuhlmeier.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Wenger (Frank) of Atkins, Wanda Frost (Clyde) of Sherwood, Ramona Tatom (Larry) of Butlerville; sons, Ronald Ragan and Richard Ragan (Nancy) of Sherwood; 12 grandchildren, Kevin Van Pelt, Keith (Beth) Van Pelt, Lane Tatom, Holly (Eric) Tindall, Natalie (Allen) Summerlin, Tony (Kristi) Wenger, Bryan (Lue Crecy) Ragan, Kimberly Ragan, Mary Ragan, David Wenger, Laura Ragan, Sean (Whitney) Ragan, Julie Ragan and 21 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday at North Little Rock Funeral Home followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 14, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. ALEXANDER - Kathy Lynn (Red) Szabad Carpenter, 53, ofAlexander, Arkansas, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Saline Memorial Hospital. Kathy was born July 1, 1960, in Magnolia, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Everett E. and ElizabethAnn (McGill) Red. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Red; step-son, Heath Carpenter.

She was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church. She had operated Pleasant Valley Glass in Little Rock, following her father’s death.

She was a loving mother, wife, sister and lived for her family. Her personality was like none other. From her loving and caring nature, to her loud laughs and outspoken ways; she touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. She was known by sports announcers at her children’s sporting events as the “loudest mother” in the stands.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Jack Carpenter of Alexander; sons, Lopaka Szabad and Jared Szabad both of Alexander; daughters, Tiffany Suiaunoa, Genine Szabad-Englebrecht both of Oceanside, California; Desarey Linnan of Maumelle, Arkansas; her sister, Karla Reed of Alexander; a brother, Terry Red of Escondido, California; as well as a number of nephews, nieces and many friends.

Visitation will be 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Indian Springs Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at 12:30 p.m., in Forest Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home. 501-455-1067.

BRYANT - Melvin Wilkins, age 88, of Bryant, passed away April9, 2014. He was born October 5, 1925 in Sugar Grove, Arkansas. Melvin was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Benton. He was a PFC in the U.S. Army, servingin the European Theatre of Operations in WWII. Melvin retired from Reynolds Metals Co. after 36 Years in the Instrument Department and thoroughly enjoyed 29 years of retirement. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Pearl Wilkins, sisters, Syble Smith, Mae Organ, and Verneda Craig, brothers, Owen Wilkins, and Charles Henry Wilkins, grandson, Matthew Taylor.

CABOT - Robert Wesley Gingles, 92, of Cabot, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 atSpringhill Baptist Hospital. Robert was born October 13, 1921 in Dodge County, WI the son of William and Edna Gingles.

Robert served in the Army Air Corp from 1940 to 1945, servingin Africa and Italy. After returning from the service he attended the University of Wisconsin. He taught high school agriculture for several years and then went to work for USDA Farmers Home Administration.

He married Marie Woerpel on April 11, 1945 and she preceded him in death in March 2007. He is also preceded in death by his brother Lloyd Gingles and two sisters, Mary Jane Haertl and Marguerite Schultz.

He is survived by two daughters, Beth Hasek of Cabot, Ark. and Mary (Danny) Hicks of Bay, Ark., two grandchildren, Jennifer Hasek and Amanda Pearce and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church, Horseshoe Bend, Ark. DUMAS - Jewel (Dude) Smith Conrad, 85, of Dumas, passed away peacefully April 8, 2014 in Cabot. She was born August 28, 1928 at Magazine, Arkansas. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church of Dumas and served in the Choir, WMC and Women’s Missionary Class; she was Choir member of year 1992. And she was former employee of Sunbeam and homemaker.

Her husband, Harvey Conrad; her parents, Lawton Smith and Nora Seay Smith, a son, LynnConrad, in-laws, William and Chloe Conrad, brother, JR Smith, and a sister, Eva Richmond preceded her in death.

FOUNTAIN HILL - Mr. Ralph Hollis, 81, of Fountain Hill, diedTuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Mr. Hollis was a native and life long resident of Fountain Hill. He was a former Mayor of Fountain Hill and heowned and operated Hollis Garage for many years. He was an active member of the Eden Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and his family was a very important part of his life.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, JoAnn Wilkerson Hollis in May of 2013; two daughters, Delores Allison and Sherrie Harville; a grandson, Kyle Jacob Craig; his parents, Dillard and Hazel Stanley Hollis; three brothers, W.L. “Dub” Hollis, J.D. Hollis and Harold James Hollis.

He is survived by two daughters, Beverly Harville and husband, Mike, of Hamburg and Lana Carpenter and husband, Dennis, of Arkansas City; a son, Charles Ralph Hollis Jr. and wife,Ann, of Fountain Hill; two sonsin-law, Wesley Harville of Hot Springs and Paul Allison of Hamburg; two brothers, Jack Hollis of Huntsville, Alabama and Paul Hollis of Blytheville; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

HOT SPRINGS - Jan Kendall, 72, of Hot Springs, died April 9,2014 at St. Vincent Hospital of Hot Springs. She was born August 31, 1941 in Paris, Arkansas to Mandel and Roberta Brown. Jan had a beautiful singing voice and attended college on a music scholarship. She sang with a quartet in Nevada County, California. Jan was an inn keeper at her own bed and breakfast, The Kendall House, in Nevada City, California. She also worked closely with her husband as editor of three of his books. The world is truly a better place because Jan lived and she will be missed by all who knew her. She is predeceased by her father, Mandel Russell Brown, brother, James M. Brown and daughter, Leslie Kendall.

LONOKE - Jewell Evelyn Crump, 90, of Lonoke, passed away on April 10, 2014. She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church, and a 50-year member of Lonoke OES. She was retired after 35 years from Franklin Electric and ten years as a Walmart door greeter.

She is preceded in death by her parents Rutherford and Serena C. Glover Moore; husbands James E. Easley and Albert “Pap” Crump; daughter Martha L. McDonald; son-in-law Garland L. McDonald; grandson Robert Crump; step-son Bobby Crump; six brothers and three sisters.

MONTICELLO - Billy Hartness, 82, of Monticello, passed away, Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at St. Vincent’s Infirmary in Little Rock, Ark. He was born on March 7, 1932. He was a retired builder and member of First Baptist Church.

Tyrell Carolina was an Aircraft Mechanic for the U.S. Navy where he was able to travel to Italy, Japan and Hawaii.He loved working out, playing basketball, dancing and joking around.
