GPS helps pinpoint stolen motorcycles

Little Rock police used GPS tracking to recover three stolen motorcycles Wednesday and arrest a man who purportedly admitting to taking them.

Dominique Mahan, 22, was charged with three counts of felony theft by receiving, according to a police report. Investigators executed a search warrant at Mahan’s uncle’s house at 307 Sunnymeade Drive after locating the motorcycles Monday.

Officers found two of the motorcycles in a shed at the residence, the report said. The other motorcycle was found in the backyard. Each of the bikes had been covered with tarps. Together, they’re valued at $25,000.

Mahan of 43 Warren Drive was not listed on the Pulaski County jail roster late Wednesday.

NLR man arrested in injury accident

A North Little Rock man was arrested Tuesday and charged with driving while intoxicated after a head-on collision critically injured one person.

Taron Bell, 31, was speeding east on Asher Avenue when he attempted to pass a vehicle and struck another head-on, according to an arrest report. Little Rock police reported that the unidentified victim’s injuries were potentially life-threatening.

Bell had a “strong odor of intoxicants” on his breath and refused to take a chemical test, the report said. In addition to driving while intoxicated, Bell was charged with first-degree battery, reckless driving, refusal to submit to a chemical test and driving without a license.

He was being held in lieu of a $26,950 bond at the Pulaski County jail late Wednesday.

Attempted murder charged in sofa fire

A 60-year-old Little Rock woman was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted murder after purportedly lighting a couch on fire to “harm her son,” according to an arrest report.

Elizabeth Brodie is accused of setting the couch on fire April 3 inside her house at 1818 S. Gaines St.

Her son, Harrison Brodie, 34, told investigators that he pulled the sofa outside after it was set ablaze about 11:30 p.m., police reported. He had burns on his face and hands, but declined medical treatment. Elizabeth Brodie was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

Ryan Baker, a Little Rock fire marshal, and one other unidentified person present during the fire were not injured.

Elizabeth Brodie was charged with three counts of attempted capital murder, arson and second-degree battery. She was being held at the Pulaski County jail late Wednesday with bail set at $75,000.

Further details on the incident were not immediately available.

Woman beaten, raped, says report

A woman told police she was beaten and raped after drinking liquor and smoking crack with a man at a Little Rock hotel earlier this week, according to a police incident report.

The 42-year-old woman told investigators that about 10:30 p.m. Monday, she was at the Albert Pike Residence Hotel, 701 Scott St., where a man purportedly attacked her for refusing to have sex with him in return for “smoking his crack,” the report says.

The woman told police that she was punched repeatedly before the man sexually assaulted her. Her eye sockets and jaw were broken in the attack, according to the report. Officers noted that she had “large swelling and bruising” on her face.

After yelling that she had to urinate, the man stopped the sexual assault and the woman ran away.

The woman told investigators she knew her attacker as “John Earl.” He is described as black, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 180 pounds, 50-59 years old and wears his hair in a short “afro.”
