2 die in accidents on Arkansas roads

A Louisiana man was killed Thursday when he crashed his motorcycle on Interstate 40 in Pope County, state police reported.

Joe Barber, 72, of Jonesville, La., was traveling west on the interstate when he drifted into the median at the 97-mile marker and struck a guardrail about 9:45 a.m. It was unclear why Barber drifted into the median, state police reported.

The road was wet from light rain when the crash occurred.

State police reported Wednesday that an Arkansas man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 425 north of Hamburg.

Dylan Weeks, 19, was driving south on the highway at 6:51 a.m. when his pickup crossed the centerline and struck the rear wheels of an 18-wheeler traveling in the opposite direction.

The rig's driver was not injured.

Conditions were clear and dry when the crash occurred, according to state police.
