The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas’ Big Role Model program is for students in their junior year of high school to become involved in the charity. So far, about two dozen students have committed to interact with Bigs and Littles once a month and pitch in at the organization’s headquarters, says development coordinator Colleen Carr. Each Big Role Model is required to complete 20 hours of volunteer support over nine months and raise $3,000. The next big fundraiser for the organization is the Toast and Roast at 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Embassy Suites, and tickets can be bought by calling (501) 374-6661 or visiting Bbbsca.org. The program’s name, coordinator’s name and participants’ involvement were incorrect in a story that ran in High Profile on June 29.
