The bride is the daughter of Jan and Dr. Wesley Burks of Chapel Hill, N.C., formerly of Little Rock. She is the granddaughter of Janet and Arvil Burks of Conway and the late Gerry and Hugh Getty of Little Rock.
Nancy and John Moore of Stuttgart are the parents of the groom. His grandparents are Marian Harrel and Carol and Nolie Harrel, all of Corpus Christi, Texas, and the late Barbara and James Moore of New Orleans.
On each side of the altar were arrangements in white and green using Casablanca lilies, hydrangeas, roses and magnolia leaves. Music was by Michael Brymer and the University of Central Arkansas String Quartet.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a Monique Lhuillier ivory lace gown and carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas, roses and Casablanca lilies with a collar of magnolia leaves.
Collin Elizabeth Burks of Chapel Hill served as her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Dr. Elizabeth Bressler of Durham, N.C.; Nancye Brown of Washington; Haley Burks and Hannah McCollester, both of Little Rock; Julie Ferrell of Boston; Dr. Elizabeth Lestini of Raleigh, N.C.; Elisabeth Melendez of Nashville, Tenn., cousin of the groom; Margaret Savage of London; and Shannon Shaw of Miami. They wore strapless royal blue chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of white and green using hydrangeas, roses and Casablanca lilies.
Honorary flower girl was Lydia Therese Ferrell of Boston.
The groom's honor attendants were his father and two brothers, Matthew McRae Moore and John Taylor Moore, both of Little Rock. Groomsmen were Christopher Burks of Little Rock, brother of the bride; Bradley Holt, Alan Lorince, John McMinn and Zachary Smith, all of Stuttgart; and James Yancey of Mount Pleasant, Texas. Guests were seated by John Curtis and Scott Lambert, both of Little Rock.
A reception at the Country Club of Little Rock followed the ceremony. Tables were decorated with white and green arrangements of hydrangeas, lilies, roses and larkspur in blue and white porcelain vases. Music was by The Rockets.
The bride has a bachelor's degree in religion and African-American studies from Duke University and is a Doctoral Academy Fellow in education policy at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, in the department of education reform.
The groom has a bachelor's degree in wildlife ecology and management from Arkansas State University at Jonesboro and is a research technician in the department of crop, soil and environmental science at the University of Arkansas Agricultural Research and Extension Center.
After a wedding trip to Greenough, Mont., the couple will live in Fayetteville.
