A mother who was featured in the TLC reality show Cheer Perfection before her January arrest on accusations she sexually assaulted a teenage boy entered a guilty plea Thursday and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Andrea Clevenger had been scheduled to go to trial next month.
Clevenger entered the guilty pleas to charges of first-degree sexual assault and engaging children in sexually explicit conduct in a visual or print medium.
Clevenger, who was arrested in January, spoke briefly during the hearing to answer Judge Chris Palmer's questions about whether she understood the charges and was pleading guilty on her own accord. She also acknowledged the accusations outlined by prosecutors: that Clevenger had sexual intercourse with a teenage boy who knew her daughter and asked him to send inappropriate photos to her.
Palmer sentenced Clevenger to 10 years in prison on each count, with the terms to run concurrently. A second 10-year sentence was suspended. Clevenger will have to register as a sex offender.
According to the affidavit by Sherwood Police Department detective Frank Spence, the victim's mother texted Clevenger after learning of the allegations and received a reply that apologized for unspecified behavior.
"The juvenile victim's mother asserted Clevenger called her after the text messages and they discussed the manipulation and sexual contact at length and Clevenger admitted the acts occurred, but said the juvenile victim 'doesn't act thirteen,'" Spence wrote wrote in the affidavit.
The reality show was based around cheerleaders who train and compete out of the Sherwood-based Cheer Time Revolution.
